The From The Heart Foundation is an Non Profit Organization that will sponsor
the unfortunate families that have difficult times giving their love ones a proper
burial at their times of need. Our goal is to provide the resources that is
needed immediately to support the community and families while in a time of
crisis.
Due to a recession many families already have a challenging time achieving
the financial task of how they can manage their wages on sustaining a
functional household on a need basis such as rent, lights, gas, and what their
children need now rather than any additional expenses. Many families can’t
afford medical insurance on their jobs, if it is even offered, let alone a burial or
life insurance policies as it is already hard for many family to sustain. Every
day people in the minority bracket live from pay check to pay check basis that
carry them just enough to get by not having any additional funding for more
needed things such as burial insurance . As we all know one day every family
will be faced with this difficult decision of having to plan a funeral service for a
love one, but the real question is can everyone afford it.
Due to the local crime rate being on a rise families in the Metro St. Louis,
Missouri area are losing their loved ones due to violent acts of crime rather it
being in shootings, robbery car accidents, or just being at the wrong place at
the wrong time by a choice of selected peers; many families are left behind to
deal with the struggles of planning services for a love one with little or no
finances
According to the crime data base St. Louis was the highest rated city for 2009
thru 2010 rating with 2070 violent crimes per 100,000 per population
compared with a national average of 429.4 St. Louis is ranked at 1% safest in
the United States. As of January 2011 the Violent Policy Center in
Washington D.C. has stated once again Missouri ranked number one within
three years averaging the murder rate of 39.90 per 100,000 people. This
homicide rate alone is overall eight times higher than the national rating.
African Americans homicides throughout the entire country spread is 18.07
nearly half the Missouri rates just by itself.
One of many reasons believed is attributed to poverty in urban settings.
Missouri’s poverty rate has grown three and a half times the national average
since 2000 according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Dealing with poverty,
while in a recession is a sure combination for tension, frustrations and tempers
to flare in the same compounds amongst people.
It has also been linked that St. Louis Missouri has one of the highest ratings
for school drop outs rather it be junior high or senior high school that
contributes to children being pressured by their peers. Statistic has proven
that most high school graduates are more likely to set a more positive tone for
their futures verses drop out kids that often get caught up in “Being a Product
of Their Environment”, which adds them to another number of violent crime
statistics. In order to fit in their so called society of being accepted many
young men and women are challenged with the decision of being smoked
meaning killed by their so called peers or neighborhood they reside in by not
proving their loyalty for being down for representing their neighborhood
verses allowing one to make the choice to rising above the negativity and
respecting any positive reinforcements.
